On 29th November 2016, the Chinese biggest Japan-to-China cross-border e-commerce platform Wonderfull convenes the news conference in Tokyo, announcing its USD 26 million series B financing. The financing is led by one of the biggest Japanese venture capital investors World Innovation Lab (Known as ‘WiL’). As Wonderfull’s the first institutional investor, Ventech China keeps following in this round, cooperating with another investor ITOCHU, one of the biggest comprehensive commerce corporations in Japan. Earlier this year, Wonderfull also received A and A+ series financing from Ventech China, Zhen Fund and IDG, totaling USD 20 million.

Ventech China believes that Wonderfull has two advantages which make it popular in capital market. Firstly, Wonderfull fulfills Chinese emerging group’s demand of high quality international products by introducing famous Japanese brands. Secondly, Wonderfull builds its own supply chain and logistic system, delivering original products directly from manufacturer to end customers. High quality and fast shipment enable Wonderfull to earn customers’ trust and to stand out from numerous competitors in Chinese market.

 

Currently, Wonderfull has more than 10,000 SKUs, covering skincare, body care, cosmetics, nutrition, snacks, maternal care, children products and furniture. Wonderfull cooperates closely with Japanese companies, such as DHC, the best-selling personal care brand in Japan; GINZA SAYEGUSA, a child clothing brand with more than 100 years’ history; and LOFT, the most popular chain grocery in Japan. At next stage, Wonderfull would introduce more partners, such as the famous children fashion brand, MIKI HOUSE and the food branch of Shiseido, a top Japanese cosmetics brand.

 

Weng Yongbiao, the CEO of Wonderfull, said that after the injection of the new capital, Wonderfull would emphasize on several aspects, including the update of technology, efficiency enhancement of operation and expansion of partners, both domestically and internationally. Meanwhile, CEO also announced the strategic cooperation with Taobao cross-border platform, which is a demonstration of Wonderfull’s leading position in this vertical industry.
